In 2017 Kelly and I found our house in Westtown, NY. Several acres nestled along a large pasture full of horses retired from various backgrounds with a gorgeous tree line on the far edge. We were inspired by all the natural beauty the land had to offer along with beautiful sunsets, an almost unending breeze with the occasional gusts of wind and then the Eagles. An incredible mating pair of American Bald Eagles perched in our old Hickory tree right out back. It was at that moment we knew, We Are HOME.
Kelly's education and career in interior design, amazing creativity and an endless imagination along with my talents in woodworking, construction, property maintenance gave me the ability to bring all of Kelly's visions to life. It was then we knew we had to develop something, that's when Wind Swept Acres came to life.
We started our journey with 6 adopted chickens, 5 ducks and a hand me down coop. Having prior knowledge of caring for and raising farm animals, horse's chickens, goats and pigs we knew we needed something better. Kelly immediately began brainstorming plans for a chicken coop. She handed a handful of renditions, a Pinterest picture or 10 to me after dinner one evening and 2 weeks later along with some help from our then 8-year-old daughter the coop was complete, and we were on the road to our homestead plan.
6 chickens grew to 50, hatchlings, chicks, an exquisite variety of hens and rooster breeds, the introduction of bee hives, honey and Kelly’s farm garden.
But that wasn't enough, Kelly knew there had to more than just produce, herbs, eggs and honey...........but what?
Kelly's idea of creating amazing, scented candles, sprays, soaps and bath bombs was born, repurposing the bees wax, adding some homemade fragrance derived from herbs and trees along with other ingredients and fragrances.
We have so many more ideas we are introducing as we go and get ourselves ready to bring them all to life.
We hope you will join us and enjoy all Kelly, myself and Wind Swept Acres have to offer.
